The European Literacy Conference 2016

The 2016 European Literacy Conference was hosted in Amsterdam from 20 to 22 January 2016. Its main goal was to shift the focus from idea generation to idea execution – providing reliable and innovative insights on how to improve literacy in Europe.
ELINET experts introduced all results, findings and tools developed in the past two years, while giving the floor to prominent speakers and giving answers to larger questions in the literacy field. The conference programme reflected a balance between informational sessions and hands-on workshops. “How do I use new research results? What does a successful fundraising campaign look like? Why is digital literacy more predominant than ever?” were some of the questions that were focused on.
A highly engaging audience with international experts from literally every literacy field were greeted by prominent speakers, such as H.R.H. Princess Laurentien from the Netherlands, Mr. Jens Nymand Christensen and Mr. Vladimir Garkov from the Directorate General for Education and Culture (European Commission), and author Abdelkader Benali.
The first European Literacy Conference 2016 proved to be a source of inspiration and paved the path for shaping future literacy policies.
